WE ARE CULT OF VENUS
Cult of Venus is an artist collective founded by Yukon-based interdisciplinary artists Sol Suarez and Charles Hegsted.
Cult of Venus is an art collective collaborating with a diverse array of collaborators, functioning as a dynamic creative entity, constantly expanding its influence through each undertaking.
Within this collective’s arsenal, technology serves as both a canvas and a critique. They employ digital mediums, live performances and interactive installations to create art that defies convention, inviting viewers to question the very essence of technology’s role in our lives.
In their world, absurdity reigns supreme. Cult of Venus uses technology to orchestrate scenarios that challenge the status quo, lampooning the contradictions of a tech-driven capitalist society. Their creations are a reflection of the surreal nature of our digital age as it mirrors our own subconscious landscape, inviting us to question the boundaries between reality and delusion.
At the heart of Cult of Venus lies a fundamental belief: a life dedicated to pleasure is a triumphant response to the exploitative tendencies of society. They view the pursuit of ecstasy as a radical act of resistance against the oppressive forces that seek to regulate every facet of human existence. By embracing pleasure and joy, they aim to reclaim sovereignty over their bodies, minds, and creative potential.
Cult of Venus reclaims the power of technology, exposing its contradictions and offering a mirror to society’s excesses and vulnerabilities.
About MindBøner
Project MindBøner is an ongoing foundational work by Cult of Venus. Through a wide spectrum of mediums that include live performances, soundscapes and digital vandalism, MindBøner mocks the hypocrisy of the wellness industry, which often preaches self-care and self-love while promoting products and practices that are often antithetical to true wellness. The alchemy between Maria Sol’s magnetic voice and hypnotic cadence, and Charles’ skillfully crafted dynamic synth scores act as virtual spellcasting, powerful enough to establish an uniquely intimate connection with their audiences, in both an individual and a collective sphere. They aim to fill the collective existential post-covid void by manifesting in the ethereal space of technology with digital sorcery.
